Form Settings

Explore different ways to customize and optimize form panel and details pane settings.

In this video, we’ll learn how to control what is displayed on the details pane for SharePoint list items, and how to control the size of the side panel for your modern SharePoint list form.

Form Settings

Behind the Form Settings button is the ability to specify the size of your modern forms side panel, but also to show or hide the details on the details pane.

Right-side panel size

The right side panel size can be set to small, medium, large, or full screen. A reason for changing this is to fit to the columns if you have multiple side columns, or use tabs to separate parts of the form. Once you have made the change, refresh the page and ignore browser cached content of the current page by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+R.

Details Pane Settings

  • Users Access – Shows or hides the users access in the details pane of the current item.
  • Properties – Shows or hides the fields in the details pane of the current item. This is a useful feature if you have hidden certain fields in your form such as an approval field, and only approvers can change the value. Your form logic that hides the Approval field will not carry across to the details pane.
  • Activity – Shows or hides the items activity.
